Singapore’s Early Childhood sector is expanding as the Government continues to improve access to affordable, accessible, and quality preschool services. With greater emphasis on children’s early learning, development, and wellbeing, there is a growing need for professionals who understand how to support young children during their formative years.
The number of full-day infant care and childcare places has grown significantly over the past decade. The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) reported that places increased from about 120,000 in 2015 to approximately 220,000, with almost 40,000 additional places planned between 2025 and 20291.
This continued expansion reflects Singapore’s commitment to strengthening early childhood care and education. As more families seek quality preschool and infant care options, this creates continued demand for trained professionals who can support young children’s learning, care, and development.
A Degree in Early Years Education Degree can help you build the knowledge and confidence to contribute to this growing sector, whether in early childhood education, child development, family support, or related community roles.
Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) is the regulatory and developmental authority for Singapore’s Early Childhood sector, overseeing children below age seven across kindergartens and childcare centres.
As Singapore continues to raise the quality of early childhood care and education, early childhood professionals play an important role in supporting quality standards, child safety, curriculum implementation, and parent partnerships.
Beyond classroom teaching, professionals in this sector help create safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environments where children can develop confidence, curiosity, and social-emotional skills. They also work closely with families and colleagues to support each child’s learning, wellbeing, and overall development.
Having an Early Childhood and Education Degree can strengthen your professional knowledge and prepare you to meet the sector’s growing expectations for quality care and education.

The information on this website is correct as of May 2026.
I had worked full-time at the Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities Senior Activity Centre for three years and recently started working as a Programmes Executive at YWCA. Here, I aim to equip young women and mothers from marginalised backgrounds with work skills to improve their lives through employability.
I find it meaningful to work with the elderly and devise interventions to help with their gradual memory impairment and physical limitations. I am also passionate about reaching out to people in difficult situations and making a difference in their lives.
These reasons motivated me to pursue my education with Kaplan, first with a Foundation Diploma, followed by the Diploma in Psychology. This then gave me exemptions to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree with Northumbria University, where I chose to study the Bachelor of Arts in Guidance and Counselling.
The Degree is well-suited to my goal of becoming an asset to organisations that strive to improve the welfare of those in need. Northumbria University is well-recognised for its outstanding teaching, so I feel confident about achieving my Degree here. The lecturers, who are experts in their respective professional fields, also share their experiences and knowledge with us.
The programme may serve as a stepping-stone for those who aspire to expand their career opportunities in the sector and work with people from diverse backgrounds. All the modules covered have been comprehensive and applicable to my job scope.
After I have completed the programme, I plan to further my education with a Master’s Degree in order to be empowered to care for and understand how to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
When I entered the workforce, I was young and did not have many qualifications. As I continued working, I realised the importance of having proper qualifications to progress at work. Furthermore, I wanted to do something more meaningful and helpful to others.
Hence, I decided to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Guidance and Counselling at Northumbria University. As I am responsible for assisting clients in achieving a better quality of life, I found what I had learnt from my Degree programme can be applied when meeting my clients.
This Degree programme not only boosts my confidence and self-esteem at work, but also provided me with a sense of achievement. My achievement was validated when I got promoted from Programme Officer to Programme Executive.
I would definitely recommend Northumbria University as it takes only 18 months to attain a Degree. Moreover, the lecturers are very engaging, and they are willing to guide us whenever we need help.
I previously worked in sales before joining the People’s Association. I then decided to pursue a Degree in Guidance and Counselling to enhance my career and improve my conversation skills for me to guide and counsel others more confidently and professionally.
By applying the knowledge that I have gained from the programme, I am now able to counsel individuals across different levels. I am also able to efficiently collaborate with my colleagues and stakeholders to serve the community more effectively. The Mending the Gap: Collaborative Learning with Service Users module was applicable in terms of helping me bridge the gap between people. By learning and applying techniques that I have learnt, the community would feel more comfortable sharing their concerns with me.
I will recommend this Degree programme as it can be completed in 18 months on a part-time basis and is suitable for people holding a full-time job in the day. During my course of study, I was even promoted from Assistant Manager to Manager.
I embarked on further studies to enhance my career prospects and stay competitive in today’s job market. As a Key Account Manager overseeing top key sellers on an e-commerce platform, I manage various logistical aspects involved in transporting goods from one place to another.
My Degree has given me a thorough understanding of supply chain flow and structure, enabling me to effectively communicate with external courier and transport companies, and resolve operational issues for key sellers. Several ideas I’ve implemented at my organisation to improve the movement of goods were inspired by insights gained from my studies.
Balancing full-time work and studying can be challenging due to time and family commitments. However, as the programme is 100% assignment-based, it alleviates the stress associated with exams. Despite the demands and rigour, I was able to complete assignments at my own pace, while managing my schedule effectively to spend quality time with loved ones.
Upon completing my studies, I received a salary increase on top of the opportunity to build valuable connections with classmates from diverse backgrounds. I would definitely recommend this programme from Northumbria University at Kaplan.
In order to upgrade myself and advance my career, I decided to further my studies with the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business with Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Top-up) programme. Through modules such as Applied Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Strategic Supply Chain Management and Supply Networks, I was able to gain an in-depth understanding of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
This Degree programme may be completed in 16 months, a comfortable duration which allows me to study at my own pace while working. With this Bachelor’s Degree, I feel more confident at work as I am able to better understand my job scope and the demands to be met. In addition, I was given the opportunity to progress in my career by taking on more responsibilities after attaining my Degree.
I would definitely recommend Northumbria University. In fact, one of my friends is already studying here and she is enjoying it!

I decided to study with Northumbria University at Kaplan in Singapore as it is among an elite group of institutions worldwide offering Business Degrees with Dual Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) Accreditation. I was also attracted to the largely assignment-based learning, which allowed me to better plan my time around my work schedule to complete and submit assignments. As for my choice of major, I chose it as it is related to my current job and I wanted to enhance my knowledge in the field.
The programme has helped to strengthen my job performance. With its assignment-based curriculum, it gave us a more practical education, allowing students to apply the knowledge learned in classes through the assignments given, which were similar to projects assigned at work. In addition, all the research done based on real companies or situations exposed me to current market sentiments and trends, allowing me to learn and improve on some “outdated” practices.
Given the good reputation of Kaplan and its collaboration with reputable universities, taught by very knowledgeable lecturers, I would recommend Kaplan.

I felt lost in 2020, about to turn 40 in a couple of years and unsure if I should switch to a career in Logistics. I had heard that the Logistics sector is fast paced, where there are limited opportunities given my age and lack of experience. At the same time, I did not see myself being able to further progress in my then-career in engineering.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, I saw studying at Northumbria University as an opportunity. Based on the number of modules I needed to take, the duration of the programme seemed manageable. Furthermore, my friends, who had also graduated from this programme, had shared very positive feedback. Hence, I decided to begin my learning journey with Northumbria University at Kaplan.
The programme offered modules that allowed us to study about global logistics companies and how their operations changed due to the macro environment, and the modules were helpful for those finding a foothold in the Logistics and Supply Chain Management industry or those who want to learn more about the industry.
Not only was the curriculum fully assignment-based, but we could also ask questions about the assignment or seek clarification on the lesson. Although I had no prior background in this industry, the lecturers were supportive and helpful, and they were always willing to answer all my questions.
Through this programme and the attainment of my Degree, I have successfully transitioned into a new career as a Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) Procurement Leader at Safran.
*This programme has been succeeded by the Bachelor of Science (Honours) Global Business Management (Logistics and Supply Chain)
As a working professional, I decided to pursue further studies to enhance my competitiveness in today’s dynamic job market. Having an additional qualification has equipped me to navigate the ever-changing Business and Finance sector, allowing me to grow within my organisation.
Moreover, pursuing this Degree from Northumbria University provided me with an excellent opportunity to expand my network. The supportive lecturers made my study journey as a working adult remarkably smooth. For anyone considering further studies to improve themselves, I wholeheartedly recommend this programme.
Upon completing my studies, I gained recognition for my achievements and secured an enhanced role within my organisation.

Northumbria University was my choice as it offered a Degree programme I could complete within 18 months with a mostly assignment-based grading. Most classes were held on weekday evenings, which made it possible for me to manage both work and studies with ease.
As an Assistant Manager at Heinemann Asia Pacific, the modules covered were comprehensive, relevant and applicable to my job scope. Prior to taking this Degree, I was having difficulty entering the travel retail industry as I had no experience and lacked academic credentials.
My Degree in Business Management has enabled me to fulfill my dream to work in this sector, as well as empowered me with better knowledge and, subsequently, greater involvement in my company’s projects, helping my career growth.
